Lydia Aji, a 40-year-old woman, has been arrested in Borno State for fatally attacking her husband, Aji Makinta, with an axe.
The incident unfolded following an argument about their 13-year-old daughter, Rachael, who allegedly stole a goat.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Yusufu Lawal, represented by Police Public Relations Officer Nahum Kenneth, the confrontation turned violent when Lydia struck her husband on the head with the axe, causing his immediate death.
“On the 4th of July, 2024, Bulama Mulikabu from Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area reported to the Chibok police station that Lydia Aji, aged 40, had a violent altercation with her husband, Aji Makinta, resulting in her fatally injuring him with an axe,” Lawal stated.
Lawal also mentioned that the disagreement started after Aji accused their daughter Rachael, aged 13, of stealing and selling a goat to someone unknown. This accusation reportedly led Aji Makinta to demand that Lydia and Rachael leave his house.
