The police in Akwa Ibom State will reportedly arraign some officials of the Deeper Life High School in Uyo, the state capital, over the alleged sexual abuse of an 11-year-old student of the school, Don Davis Achibong.
Premiumtimes reports that some officials of the school have been detained after attending a meeting at the police headquarters summoned by the state Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme.
Counsel to the parents of the boy, David Okokon, said the police would be arraigning those involved in the case today January 6.
“They (the police) are arraigning those people found culpable, this morning,” said Mr Okokon
Also commenting on the development, the spokesperson of the state police command, Odiko MacDon, confirmed the arrest and detention of some of the school officials and said the police were preparing to arraign “those found culpable”.
“This morning, we are trying to tidy up (investigation), we are dotting our i’s and crossing our t’s. If we are not through this morning, they will be arraigned tomorrow”MacDon said
Don Davis who began attending the school in October this year, accused the management of the school as well as two seniors in the school of physically assaulting him. In a Facebook live video, Don Davis recounted how he was beaten up for bedwetting and also how two of his seniors inserted their fingers in his anus.
