  • The only people pushing the youth culture in Nigeria were Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye - Obi Asika

  • It was a great Sunday (August 2, 2020) evening filled with beautiful memories and accolades from the crème de la crème of the Nigerian music industry in honour of the iconic duo, Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye. This memorable event was organized by Music Week Nigeria in collaboration with Hip TV and Kennis 104.1FM ahead of the business conference happening this week. It was live streamed simultaneously via Zoom, Instagram and broadcast live on Kennis 104.1FM and Hip TV.

Audu Maikori gave huge credit to Kenny and D1 for inspiring him to work hard because as far back as 2005, they were living evidence that the music business actually pays. He was very particular about the ‘yellow hummers the duo cruised in.’ Obi Asika went ahead to say that, ‘there was a time when the only people pushing the youth culture in Nigeria were Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye’. On a more personal note, DJ Jimmy Jatt described them as ‘the most amazing people you’ll ever meet’

Of course, the golden child of Nigerian pop music, 2face Idibia came to the party and said, ‘my story would never be complete without Kenny and D1’. He gave complete credit to the iconic duo for making the Nigerian music industry glamourous once again. Daddy Showkey’s excitement was palpable when he talked about how Kennis Music believed in him much more than he could have believed in himself. It was a similar vibe for Mike Aremu because he literally handed complete credit for the international status of his brand to Kenny and D1.

Emmem also gave them credit for showing that, 'there is money in entertainment in Africa. Who knew that label bosses advised artistes to invest in the stock market? Well, Mike Aremu gave us that gist. Other industry greats that bared their minds and showed their love for the duo were, Efe Omorogbe, Baba Dee, Sasha P, Dele Esan, TeeY mix, Sound Sultan and others. It is important that I quote Kally Ikpe who said, ‘Anytime your name is mentioned, what it elicits is greatness. For me, that was the high point of the beautiful event which was hosted by Ubi Franklin. Congratulations to the iconic duo. May there be more celebrations and monetary reward of your great works while you are still alive to enjoy it.
