  • PHOTOS: UK Aid Kickstarts 'Run Against Rape and Abuse' Campaign In Abuja
  •  In a bid to halt rape and abuse in Africa, the Uchenna Kenneth Foundation (UK Aid) in conjunction with Godspower Oshodin Global Foundation and B-soccer Academy commences the first of it kind sportbased Anti-rape campaign tagged as Run Against Rape and Abuse (RARA).


    The campaign which commenced in Abuja saw young ladies and guys come out in their numbers to walk and jog the street of Abuja.

    In his words, Collins Onyeaji who is Convener of the event and co-convener of UK-Aid said: "The world will be a better place if we all focus in that one fight for Humanity. We can only do this together, because rape and abuse is a menace in the society. And it requires conscious attention."

    Mr. Onyeaji who also doubles as the Vice President of the Nigeria Bloggers Forum buttresses on the need for collaboration and partnership in fighting this course.

    "Part of the United Nations SDG is Partnership. We need to deploy all the dynamism needed in cleansing the society. With RARA, we are using sports as part of the tools in fighting this societal menace. As you can see, we have all jogged a few kilometres down Maitaima and Wuse axis. And that is the dynamism, where you can fight Rape and Abuse with every idea that brings people together. So I call on all Stakeholders in the industry to join in this fight, be you a Journalists, Sport Personality, Musicians, Actors, and others who has a voice that can echo our resolve to halt Rape and Abuse in our society."

    Speaking to Press Men, Ikechukwu Anyaegbudike who is the General Secretary of the Nigeria Bloggers Forum and co-convener of the Campaign, articulated on some essential factors the RARA campaign would create.

    "RARA project is unique. Because we are using Sports in fighting against rape and abuse. Sports and exercises should be part of us. If you must fight, you must be fit. And we are not stopping here, we are commencing the SAVE THE GIRLS ANTI-RAPE CAMPAIGN on all campuses across the Nation once school activities commences again. Ending this societal plight should be paramount in our consciousness.", Mr. Ikechukwu concludes.
