The Kano State Police Command on Tuesday, September 26,
paraded ten suspects arrested for alleged armed robbery, rape and other
crimes.
Briefing newsmen at the polic headquarters, Bompai, Kano on
Tuesday, September 26, the spokesperson, DSP Magaji Musa Majia
reiterated the Command’s readiness towards ensuring a secured, peaceful
and conducive atmosphere as we progress towards the end of the year.
Below are details of the arrests:
1. On 19/08/2017 at about 0600hrs a team of operatives
attached to SARS Kano while on surveillance Patrol arrested Ali Shehu
and Saifullahi Lawan all of Hotoro Quarters in connection with an
offence of armed robbery and rape which they committed in October 2016
against a female resident of Hotoro Qtrs Kano. They conspired with 2
others now at large, robbed the victims off one Plasma TV, one HP
Computer, one Samsung Handset, one big gown and finally raped their
victim. However, the suspects confessed to the crime and one Plasma TV
was recovered, while investigation is in progress to arrest the fleeing
members of the syndicate.
2. On 18/09/2017 at about 2000hrs one Shehu Aliyu of Doma
Village Nassarawa State and two others now at large criminally
conspired, armed themselves of guns and other weapons attacked a
resident of Dorayi Babba forestry Qtrs Kano and attempt to made away
with his Mercedes car black in colour valued N1.8M. His accomplices fled
as he was arrested with the said motor vehicle, one double barrel gun, 1
live cartridge and 2 rubber pistols. He confessed to the crime while
effort is in top gear towards arresting the fleeing members of the
syndicate and prosecutes them accordingly.
3. On 27/7/2017 at about 1430hrs based on information,
detectives attached to SARS Kano while on Patrol along Emir’s Palace
Road by Central Prison Yard arrested one Yusuf Mohd of Ajawa Qtrs Kano
for being involved in several armed robbery and snatching of motor
vehicles in Kano city. In the course of investigation, the suspect
confessed to the crimes, led detectives to the arrest of a receiver of
stolen goods in the person of Sabiu Umar of Sabon Gari Nassarawa, Chukun
LGA, Kaduna State in whose possession one stolen Toyota Camry was
recovered and he confessed to have received stolen Toyota corolla Le and
1 Ford Focus Motor vehicles from the same suspect. Yusif Mohd was
during the last Ramadan Fasting arrested for stealing a car at one of
the new generation Bank along Zaria Road Kano. He was charged to Court
but granted bail, hence this subsequent crime. Another suspect named
Abdulkadir Sharif of Soron Dinki Qtrs was also arrested as member of the
syndicate and confessed to have taken one stolen Honda Civic car to the
above suspect for disposal in Kaduna State. Investigation is in
progress.
4. On 25/09/2017 at about 1730hrs operatives attached to
SARS Kano acting on tipoff arrested one Adamu Mohammed for criminally
conspiring with Usman Umar, Auwalu Usman and Shehu Danlami all of
various addresses and carry out armed robbery in different parts of Kano
especially around Rijiyar Zaki Qtrs Kano. Adamu has a Honda Civic in
which he convey his accomplices for robbery operation. The suspects
confessed to have carried out various armed robbery operations including
attack of a trader residing at Rijiyar Zaki Qtrs Kano where they carted
away one Honda CRV and Mercedes GLK, cash in various currencies worth
about N3,000,000.00K and other valuables, one locally made Pistol, 8
cartridges, and some clothing materials were recovered from them.
Investigation is in progress.
