Fayose's
open endorsement of his deputy to replace him as governor has divided
the leadership of the PDP in Ekiti with critical reactions following.
Dayo Adeyeye and Governor Ayodele Fayose
Former Minister of Works and National Publicity Secretary,
Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Dayo
Adeyeye, has said the imposition of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State,
Prof Kolapo Olusola as the sole candidate of the PDP for the 2018
governorship poll, was part of the plot by Governor Ayodele Fayose to
sell the party to the opposition.
Describing the action as nullity and serious infraction of the PDP
constitution and the electoral act 2010 as amended, Adeyeye accused
Governor Fayose of allegedly working in synergy with external forces to
ruin the party.
He assured the party members that the endorsement of Olusola by
Fayose and a section of the party won’t stand, saying the National
Working Committee of the party led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi would
conduct a free, fair poll to elect a credible candidate.
Speaking during a meeting with some members of the party at the
headquarters of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement, PAAM, in Ado Ekiti,
Adeyeye said the shenanigans allegedly contrived by Fayose to arm-twist
the party to accepting Olusola won’t stand.
Meanwhile, Governor Fayose, has said he can’t be threatened or
blackmailed by anybody over the recent adoption of his deputy, Prof.
Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, as the preferred candidate in the 2018
governorship election in the state.
The governor also said he has no apology to offer anybody or group
over the matter since he has not done anything in breach of any rule or
law of the party or the country.
“To start with, as a party member and a citizen of Nigeria, I
reserve the rights to support any candidate for any elective post and
even vote same in an election,” he added.
