The
regrettable hand of death has claimed the lives of three Nollywood
actors from the Yoruba section of the industry within a space of a
month.
Nollywood star actress, Moji Olaiya died early hours of yesterday at her base in Canada.
Following the sad news of the actress’ death, Dailypost recalls how
three notable Nollywood actors/actresses have died within the last 30
days.
This has forced Nigerians to take a look at the popular acts lost
within the space of one month. Most of the dead movie stars have been of
the Yoruba segment of the Nigeria movie industry.
1. Adeshina Adesanya
Adeshina Adesanya, otherwise called ‘Pastor Ajidara’ battled a kidney failure condition and passed away days after it was revealed that he was sick.
Before he died, there were calls for financial support for him led by his colleagues, Bolaji ‘Mr. Latin’ Amusan and Yomi Fash Lanso. The former broke the news of his death.
Adesanya acted in movies such as: “Agbeku abela” (2009) and “Ologbo Iya Ijebu” (2007).
2. Olumide Bakare
Bakare, a veteran actor in the Nigerian film industry died April
22, 2017. He reportedly died of a prolonged battle with a respiratory
disorder.
The actor was confirmed dead by doctors at the University College
Hospital, Ibadan on arrival. Saidi Balogun, another Nollywood actor,
announced his passing away.
He featured in movies such as: “Oromodie,” “Edun Ara,” “Gbogbolomo” etc.
3. Moji Olaiya
The popular Yoruba actress died early hours of yesterday at her base in Canada following reported complication after her childbirth.
The news of her demise made was public by the founder of Best of
Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi. Olaiya, who started her acting career
with popular Nigerian television show, ‘Super Story’ went on to become
an actress and producer.
She died of cardiac arrest at the age of 42.
