Two
Nigerian military generals escaped death by the whiskers in the
north-eastern part of the country after almost running into a mine
field.
Boko Haram operatives
The Chief of Administration, Nigerian Army, Maj.Gen. Idris Alkali,
and the acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Nigerian Army,
Brig. Gen. Victor Ezugwu, escaped death from Improvised Explosive
Devices planted by Boko Haram.
According to a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations,
Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, the convoy of the two senior military officers
came across four hidden Improvised Explosive Devices during their
journey to Bama, Borno State.
The statement said that the convoy cleared four Improvised
Explosive Devices buried by suspected Boko Haram terrorists along their
way from Bama to Gwoza at about 10am on Saturday.
Usman said, “They encountered the four clustered IEDs buried at
a point along the Banki Junction and Pulka Road about six kilometres to
Firgi in Borno State.
“The Explosive Ordinance Device team was, however, able to quickly detect the IEDs and defused them.”
