As
the dust raised by the widely publicized Anambra s*x tape scandal
slowly dies down, a group has alleged that the state governor may be
dragged into the mess.
Willie Obiano
Renascent Anambra Transparency Democratic League, RATDL,
a sociopolitical transparency advocacy group, has made new allegations
against Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano's opponents.
The group disclosed that there are plans by some opposition
politicians to drag Chief Obiano into the recent s*x scandal involving
former beauty queen, Chidinma Okeke.
The group in a press release made available to journalists in Awka
and signed by its coordinator, Comrade Chuma Nweke stated that the
former beauty queen has allegedly been approached by some opposition
politicians in the state to indict Obiano in the scandal.
“We learnt that the basic idea by the faceless sponsors of the
plan is to get the former beauty queen to make brazen allegations
linking the governor and his top aides to the scandal, thereby giving
the opposition reason to shout to the rooftop, and request the governor
to step down from seeking second term in office,” the group said.
Nweke said it has become necessary to go public following a spate
of misleading public commentaries and allegations, with potentials to
rupture the peace which is visible across the state in a time of
national hardship occasioned by economic recession.
The release continued, “We shall not stand by and watch
unscrupulous politicians succeed in their nefarious attempt to
scandalize the office of the governor of Anambra State, by roping the
governor into a matter which he has absolutely no hand in.
“We shall do anything within our power to ensure that people who are bent on humiliating our governor do not go unscathed.”
Though the group said it’s non-partisan, it said it is compelled
to speak after noticing the dangerous impending trend in Anambra
politics, which has hitherto been known to be peaceful.
The group said that since the law enforcement agents have wadded
into the matter, it would be fair for all parties to desist from making
unguarded utterances, while calling on the security agencies to make
haste and make its findings public to save those who are being unjustly
accused, and also save the state from the hands of pranksters.
The group said it decided to come out to speak having seen how some
enemies of the governor were trying to twist the scandal against him,
and to also alert the governor of what his enemies are trying to do, so
he can prepare himself.
Meanwhile, according to Daily Post, a counsel to Miss Okeke, the former beauty queen, Barr Ikenna Obidiegwu said on phone that: “there
is nothing political about Chidinma’s travails, the little girl has
told the world how it happened, and what our concern is to ensure she
gets justice.”
Obidiegwu said no opposition politician has approached his client
to twist facts, and that government was not the organizers of the
pageant, and as such has not been linked to it.
He, however, urged Anambra State government to institute enquiry
into the matter as failure to do so may indict her of complicity, or
better still rob off on her when the whole truth is unraveled.
