  • Presidency Moves To Avert Oil Workers’ Strike
  • In a bid to avert the planned strike by members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, the Presidency has summoned a meeting with the oil workers today (Thursday).

The meeting, according to a statement by Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Samuel Olowookere, will discuss the modalities for ending the lingering crisis.

President Muhammadu Buhari is not ready for another distraction and has mandated the relevant ministers to meet with the oil workers and resolve all issues in the interest of Nigerians.

The statement said the meeting would take place at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources’ Board Room at the NNPC Towers in Abuja by 10am. It further said that the meeting would be attended by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

Others expected at the meeting are representatives of the Organised Labour, including PENGASSAN and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers.
Hopefully they would be able to reach a compromise and save Nigerians another round of hardship.
