Italy crushes huge $5.09 million haul of ivory with a steamroller after finding links between Somali terror group Al-Shabaab and the illegal elephant tusk poaching trade. A tonne of ivory worth around $5.09 million was crushed on March 31 in Italy after an investigation linked the illegal tusk poaching trade to a Somali terror group.
The huge haul of tusks and carved models was destroyed using an industrial stone crusher and a steamroller before being disposed of permanently.
