Real Madrid’s hopes of taking the Champions League crown were dealt a blow thanks to exceptional Wolfsburg, who downed the Spanish giants 2-0 to take a commanding lead in the quarter-final tie.
Zinedine Zidane’s men were hot favourites going in to the clash, but found themselves behind after 18 minutes when Ricardo Rodriguez stepped up to convert from the penalty spot.
The Blanco defence was then found severely wanting seven minutes later, and Maximilian Arnold took full advantage to score from close-range and give Wolfsburg a fantastic result ahead of the return leg at Santiago Bernabeu.
