Our first episode Maxwell writes about Examination malpractice in schools..
EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE IN NIGERIAN SCHOOLS
Examination malpractice has been the order of the day in most Nigerian schools. It is one of the canker-worms eating deep into the fabric of society. It is an evil which must be nipped in the bud before it gets perpetuated.
It is now rampant in schools today seeing students going into examination halls with micro sheets. Many students have dabbled into a number of indelible acts like special center in order to get of the clutches of failure. Many girls sell their body in len of success. A good number of students grease the palms of their teachers in order to earn their longing success. Many also give up the ideal of reading and cultivate the habits of searching about for "expo" in-place of keeping their noses to the grind stone and reading. What kind of youths are we building? What type of failure are we giving our youth for a living? Looking at the prevalence of expo, it will be undoubtedly accepted that teachers are the brain behind all this.
Though teachers are meant to fulfill their profession as a teacher, but they see it as a time wasted profession and besides some also feel that their monthly salaries are not sufficient enough for them. As the saying goes in our local ways that "money for hand ball for ground" more so, during examination period, people of all kinds makes deal with students in getting their money most especially the teachers.
Consequently upon these, I have no doubt in my heart that through spreading and perpetrating malpractices in our schools are hereby killing the image of the youth, little wonder we continue having problems in the area of politics, and our educational system. These will continue procrastinating on how to develop and make the allayment of political stability. Our youth can not stand up and say no to what the present governments are doing. Look at everything, cost in the market and one of the ordeal one is that one can hardly feed or take three times meal. This is as a result of illiteracy and even ignorance which is making them blind of reading.
In conclusion, for there to be free and fair running of examination in our schools, there is need to be a well standard panel for the probing of teachers who have cultivated the habit of giving out micro sheets to their students. The government should also reduce all the rate of text book to make parents acquire books for their children. When these are been done,I feel there will be a total success and stop of malpractice in Nigerian schools.
