  • Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan who are currently in Germany -met with some refugees in Brandenburg -who are learning computer coding. Zuckerberg who posted the above picture on his page wrote;

    Priscilla and I visited the REDI School of Digital Integration in Berlin -- a non-profit that teaches refugees to code.

    Being able to meet with students from Syria was one of the highlights of my visit to Germany and I was impressed by their courage and determination. I met Akram who was learning to code in Damascus before the war began. Even while traveling to Europe he continued to study, and now he attends the school while volunteering to help other refugees. I met Rami from Aleppo who dreams of one day creating a startup. I met Louna who had never tried coding before but is now learning quickly and wants to become an architect.

    Dealing with the refugee crisis is a huge challenge, and it is inspiring to see people creating opportunities through technology. Berlin is a symbol of so much that I believe in: breaking down walls between people to make the world more open and connected.

    Now Germany's leadership and compassion in the refugee crisis has also become a symbol of what it means to build an inclusive global community, and has an set an example for the world.
