Pope Francis En Route To Kenya + See 5 African Countries With The Most Catholics

Pope Francis has left Rome bound for Kenya on the first leg of a first tour of Africa. He is expected to arrive in Nairobi at 14:00 GMT and is also scheduled to visit Uganda and the Central African Republic (CAR) on a six-day trip.

1. Democratic Republic of Congo: 31 million
2. Nigeria: 20 million
3. Tanzania: 14.2 million
4. Uganda: 14.1 million
5. Angola: 10.8 million

Christianity is projected to be sub-Saharan Africa's largest religious group by 2050 with 1.1bn followers from 517 million in 2010. The Muslim population is expected to grow at faster rate, rising from 248 million to 670 million. Source: Pew research centre
