Gunmen yesterday morning
kidnapped a High Court Judge in Kogi State, Justice Samuel Obayomi,
attached to Ebogogo High Court in Adavi LGA and killed his police
orderly.
He was seized in Okene on his way to the office. The orderly to the judge, Cpl. Usman Musa, was shot dead during the operation.
According to his driver, Ajayi Kolawole, three gunmen with dark glasses stopped them at gun point in front of Executive Guest Villa in Okene.
The judge had been in hospital for three months after surviving an accident and only resumed work on Monday last week.
Meanwhile, the chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasir Ajanah, has visited the family of the kidnapped judge and assured that efforts would be made to ensure his release.
The police area commander in Okene, Mr Kehinde Kolawole said the police had taken the driver to help in their investigation, saying being a witness, he was likely to give them useful information.
