The All Progressives Congress in Ondo
State has rejected the House of Assembly election in the state, saying
it did not reflect the wishes of the citizens of the state.
State chairman of the APC, Isaac
Kekemeke, in a statement in Akure on Tuesday, said the results showed
that the people of the state had been short-changed.
Kekemeke said that the party would
challenge the results in court, promising that “every lawful means would
be employed to retrieve the stolen mandates.”
He alleged that there was open inducement of voters and the use of thugs and intimidation before and during the elections.
“Never in the history of Ondo State has
any election been fraught with as much brigandage, armed thugs, open
inducement of voters before and during the election,” Kekemeke said.
He also noted that “the election
witnessed ballot snatching and stuffing, open and shameless bribing of
local election officials and ad hoc staff of the Independent National
Electoral Commission, changing of election results , change of election
venue and mass thumb printing.”
