The Global Network of Ogun West
Professionals in the United Kingdom has said it will support the
governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State,
Gbenga Isiaka.
This is just as an Igbo group, Eze Ndi
Igbo, in the Diaspora, endorsed the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos
State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje.
The Director of Media and Publicity of
the Global Network of Ogun West Professionals, Dr. Yanju Adegbite, said
it endorsed Isiaka because of his youthfulness and preparation, adding
that it considered his antecedents.
The statement read, “We see GNI, who had
contested once against the incumbent as a candidate to beat in the next
election and the person who will bring development and industrialisation
to our dear state.
“The Isiaka we know is full of ideas of
how to govern Ogun State. He is an accountant of proven integrity who
will manage the state’s resources prudently and develop our rural areas
to stop migration to urban cities. We, however, appeal to the people of
the state to vote for the PDP governorship candidate from Ogun West, the
senatorial zone that has yet to lead the state.”
Meanwhile, a group of traditional Igbo leaders have endorsed Agbaje
The spokesman and Secretary of Eze Ndi
Igbo in the Diaspora, Eze John-Greg Okey Ezebuadi , announced the
endorsement in a communiqué issued after a two-day meeting of the
traditional rulers at the palace of Eze Hyacinth Ohazulike who is the
Chairman of the Igbo Supreme Traditional Heads in Lagos State.
According to the communiqué, the Igbo
leaders threw their weight behind the PDP candidate because “Agbaje’s
programmes and manifesto are Igbo-friendly and their kinsmen could most
achieve their hopes and aspirations under his administration.”
The traditional rulers have urged all
Igbo indigenes people in Lagos State to vote for Agbaje in the
governorship polls slated for April 2015.
The communiqué read, “All traditional
heads of Ndi Igbo from every local government area in Lagos State
deliberated extensively on matters affecting the Ndi Igbo in Lagos
State, especially concerning the forthcoming elections.”
