Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye
Jumoke Akinjide, has called on Oyo people to vote for Goodluck Jonathan
in the upcoming elections to ensure the creation of Ibadan state.
According to P.M. News, she made the statement during PDP campaign
for Jonathan and Senator Teslim Folarin in Ibadan on January 22, 2015.
Akinjide assured a mammoth crowd that Jonathan had already shown his interest in the creation of the state but it would be possible only if he re-elected. Continuing the speech, she also urged the people to choose Folarin as the governor of the state.
“You should please go out and convince others to collect their voter cards. Tell them to vote for Jonathan and Folarin. It is by doing so that we can get Ibadan state. Vote PDP, vote Ibadan state.”
Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, former National Deputy Chairman of the party, agreed that Folarin was the best candidate for Oyo governorship.
He also reminded the crowd that Senator Rashidi Ladoja (Accord Party), Senator Abiola Ajimobi (All Progressives Congress) and Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala (Labour Party) have already been governors. Moreover, in his opinion they are rather old.
“Two of them have cases in court with EFCC. Folarin has none and he remains untainted. He is young and neutral. Vote for him.”
Meanwile, Goodluck Jonathan is taking an active part in his the presidential rally. The PDP’s campaign train has recently visited Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State.
While addressing the crowd of supporters, the President promised Nigerians that they would continue to enjoy freedom as obtained in the Constitution of Nigeria under his administration, if won.
